Stacey Mayo, M.Ed / Director / Principal: Stacey Mayo is a life-long learner who strives to help communities and students. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2005 with a degree in Elementary Education and specialties in Language arts and Science. Starting in 2005, She taught in three different public elementary schools over nine years, focusing mainly on the immigrant Hispanic communities of Florida and, before that, Arizona. In 2012, she earned her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University in Tampa, Florida.
In 2015, she left her public school teaching job to begin a new adventure. After researching programs from around the world, as well as the history of compulsory education in America, Stacey created what is now known as Educational Harbor—a private school dedicated to helping each student receive the unique education they deserve.
She currently resides in Parrish with her husband and three children. She hopes to change student lives, one at a time, through research, dedication, and love. She is working on her doctorate in International Education.
Stephanie Powers, M.Ed : Vice Principal, High School Teacher: Stephanie graduated from USF with a M.Ed in Elementary Education. She is also certified in music and taught music for 7 years at Ruskin Elementary in Ruskin, Florida. She has been teaching with Educational Harbor since 2016. She is passionate about her students as well as the small community we have built together. She started a music program at our school including recitals and private lessons.
Leslie Barron, Elementary: Leslie is a successful home school parent from the Palmetto community. Having raised one student successfully in home schooling and finishing up with another, she has been our tie to new and innovative ideas as well as classical curriculum we didn't know existed. She is also very well versed on learning disabilities and assists both parents and teachers in finding effective teaching strategies to use both at school and at home. She has been teaching at Educational Harbor since 2017 and is the most organized teacher we have! She is also a licenced swim coach!
Paula Tucker, Elementary School / Academic Enrichment / Tutoring: Paula began teaching In Virginia and has also taught in Maryland as well as here in Florida. She is certified in K-8 education in Maryland and is working on transferring her certification here. She has taught a variety of grades from Elementary all the way up to adults, helping them to earn their GED at Manatee Technical College. She is a patient and kind teacher, knowing how to break down lessons into smaller parts so her students understand them.
Melanie Welch, Middle Grades, Art: Melanie comes from a rich home schooling background. She home schooled her three older sons through middle school as well as her youngest son through 1st grade, when she joined up with Educational Harbor. In the past, she has also run her own successful licensed in-home day care. She is fully dedicated to becoming a teacher and is beginning the process to go back to college herself to obtain her license. Her shining personality and ambition makes her an asset to Educational Harbor.
Sue Abney, Middle Grades: Ms. Sue is a retired teacher who has decided to come back to teaching with us! We are so blessed to have such a wealth of knowledge and willingness to participate in our unique program. She taught in a variety of classrooms and situations over 20 years. She also likes to bring her dog, Bree, to class as well!

Jessica Moore, Small group tutoring, GED specialist: Ms. Jessica works with students who need an even smaller group than our 10 students per class can provide. She specializes in working with students who struggle with learning disabilities. She has her bachelors in
Kristen Boyd, tutoring: Ms. Kristen works with Ms. Leslie and Ms. Paula in elementary classes helping to make sure each student is getting the attention they need. She also has a passion for crafting and will be starting a crafting class this fall! She has her Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies with a Minor in Theater Arts. Most of her experiences have been with students who struggle with disabilities.
Emily Butler, Student Teacher: Ms. Emily's main passion is animals, so her focus is teaching us about animals! Last year both tutored middle grades with Ms. Melanie AND taught an animal studies class that students loved! This year, she will be working with some middle schoolers on pre-algebra, teaching a high school anatomy class as well as adding an animal sciences lab.
